The IPTU is set up as a trunk group and calls are routed to the IPTU, as they would be to a PRI module. In a typical configuration, 20-20 systems at remote sites are connected over a Wide Area Network (WAN). Multiple IPTU modules may be used to create additional traffic capacity between two 20-20 systems or to establish paths to additional systems.
The VoIP Station Unit (IPSU) and VoIP Telephones
The IPSU is a module that connects VoIP telephone sets to the 20-20 using an IP-based data network. Typically, this is a Local Area Network but can be any IP network that offers the appropriate QoS. This allows a smooth transition to VoIP at the desktop while maintaining all current capabilities of the 20-20 to support legacy telephone sets.
Call routing to/from the VoIP telephone is controlled by the 20-20 system. The IPSU supplies 32 station connections directly to a 10/100BaseT Ethernet port, which is connected to a managed Ethernet switch. This module supports the same voice encoding compression technologies as the IPTU.
The IPSU is used with the 20-20 as well as legacy systems such as the MAP, LX, and LH. VoIP telephone extensions are configured in the system the same way as current extensions.
Teltronics offers IP-based telephones that provide features consistent with those of ClearCom phones, plus enhanced IP features.
The IPSU extends the power and flexibility of the 20-20 to users at your main location as well and those in smaller offices and remote home offices.
IP Gateway Unit (IPGW)
The IPGW is a gateway SIP or module that enables voice traffic to be carried over an IP-based data network connecting the 20-20 to any number of other H.323 or SIP systems.
The IPGW connects thirty 20-20 ports directly to a 10/100BaseT connection to deliver 30 virtual trunk circuits over the IP network. These trunks can be assigned as point-to-point or multi-point. The IPGW is used with the Cerato ME/LE as well as legacy systems such as the MAP, LX, and LH. The IPGW connects to data network using either a front panel RJ45 jack or terminated at the rear using an access assembly. Voice packets are encoded using G.711, and G.729a or G.729ab, with VAD/CNG support.
An external SIP or H.323 gatekeeper routes calls to the 20-20 via the IPGW. The external gatekeeper operates independently of the 20-20. |
