The Teltronics SNMP Toolkit - NEW! Version 2.0 now available!
TST has a unique and intuitive way of presenting MIB information in a variety of easy to access formats.
- MIB Hierarchy View - Shows the traditional hierarchical MIB tree
- Component View - Shows all the MIB Components sorted alphabetically by type
- Module View - Shows all the loaded MIB Modules
- Detail View - Shows detailed, hyperlinked information about the selected MIB Component
- Source View - Shows the ASN.1 source code of the MIB Module
Hyperlinking makes it extremely easy to switch back-and-forth between views. Click on a Notification in the Component view and the Detail pane immediately shows all the objects. Click on one of the objects in the Detail pane and the object to highlight it in the Component view. Click the MIB View tab and the object is located and highlighted in the MIB tree. Change the look to suit your tastes by simply dragging panes into the position you like best. TST will remember how you want the views to look when you launch it the next time.
Tightly integrated with IRISnGEN, TST allows you to select MIB components and export them to the IRISnGEN database. During export, information such as OIDs, names, descriptions, and enumerations, are gathered from various MIB locations and correctly assembled. TST automatically creates numerous processing libraries for both the Remote Agent and IRISnGEN, greatly simplifying the time-consuming effort of creating and managing these libraries manually. Once assembled, the information for export is presented in a simple editor screen where you can fine-tune it if necessary, then a mouse click populates the IRISnGEN database. These libraries will enable any Remote Agent to correctly receive the desired SNMP Traps from a Host, and enable IRISnGEN to display these events correctly in the Viewers.
Auto Discovery of SNMP Agent: Starting with Version 2.0, TST has the ability to scan one or more network segments and discover all active SNMP agents. The Discovery View displays an icon for each discovered agent and a simple mouse click changes the display to a tabular format showing all properties of the agent. Another right click option allows you to walk the agent's MIB and display all retrieved objects.
TST includes features of an SNMP Agent to aid you in the test of Remote Agent and IRISnGEN configurations you have exported.
Trap Sender: This feature allows you to highlight any notification or trap defined in a MIB and send it with the simple click of the mouse. Using an intuitive editor, you can define the target for the trap, the value of any object, and select v1, v2, v3c or v3 Inform Request protocol. Trap Sender remembers all of the parameters you have set up so that you can send multiple traps without entering the values again...simply edit the objects that you want to vary. Use TST to configure trap reception in your Remote Agent and then to test for proper operation over the network. To validate IRISnGEN libraries, forwarding, correlations, and other functions, you may also emulate the remoteAgentTrapType notification that a Remote Agent sends to IRISnGEN. Trap Sender automatically calculates the irisKey object value.
TST also includes features typically found in a SNMP Manager that will aid you in testing event delivery from your Remote Agents, allow you to explore the MIB of any Host, and to alter parameters in the Host.
Trap-Receiver: This feature lets you receive and display traps and notifications from a SNMP agent in any protocol (support for v1, v2c, v3 and v3 Inform Request protocols is provided). Combine this feature with library exporting and Trap-Sender to do a complete end-to-end test of your Remote Agent configuration. First use Trap-Receiver to capture a notification from any SNMP Host and determine if it truly matches the MIB. Use this information to create your export to IRISnGEN. After downloading your Remote Agent, you can generate a trap to test the configuration. If you configured the Remote Agent for a SNMP Action, use Trap-Receiver to confirm what will be sent to IRISnGEN.
Sets and Gets: This feature allows you to query SNMP agents and display the value of the objects retrieved. Query a single object, walk all objects in a major branch, or start at the MIB tree root and walk the entire MIB to see how the agent responds. View results in a tree format that easily allows you to inspect the values of multiple instances of an object. The results of the walk may be stored as a text file for further reference and analysis. If the appropriate MIB files have been loaded, TST will provide the description of all enumerated objects. You may re-load stored MIB-walk files at any time to view the results in tree format even if the agent is not available. TST also gives you the ability to set the value of any object in the agent's MIB by simply selecting the object, selecting a new value, and clicking an icon.
